Appointment Reminder Paging

Description:

If you have a pager which can retrieve e-mail messages via SMTP you might want to receive notifications when your Outlook appointment reminders fire. This can be done by having Outlook running and (if Outlook 2000 is used) send a new SMTP message to the pager when the reminder fires.

This sample Exchange Server scripting agent sends appointment reminders to a pager. The pager SMTP address must be stored in one of the 10 (with Exchange 5.5 Server - 15) custom properties, as it show on the screenshort. By default the first custom attribute but this can be changed easily.

This is especially useful if you want to get you reminders without having Outlook open at your desktop.

The Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 script.

Known Issues:

Don't hide the mailbox or the public folder from the Global Address List (GAL), because the Microsoft Exchange Server Scripting and Routing script will fail to run if the mailbox or the public folder is not visible in the GAL.

Microsoft Exchange Server Scripting and Routing scripts are not running synchronously. It can take up to 60 seconds before the script is fired.

Prerequisites:

Make sure that Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 with the Microsoft Event Service is installed and running properly.

Installation:

See script homepage for detailed installation process description.
